A dark alley, a stairway, Sam lives in a classy neighborhood.

The 70′s guys are pretty popular!
Makes you wonder if there’s going to be a three-tailed demonette silhouetted against the moon, perhaps. But not too worry, Sam and Quillian are each fictional characters in the other’s dimension. Those 70′s Guys are real, though.
Overly serious narration: “Between two worlds and out of time, a pair of performers from the age of disco and bell bottoms seek to enlighten parallel realities to their brand of entertainment. They are… the 70′s Guys!” *cues theme song and montage*
Oh…Sam? I’ll be happy to wait up for you!
Sam’s feeling a bit moody, a nice glass of wine and a hot tub of bubbles would probably help.
Sam reminds me of Kirk Douglas’s character Archie Long. Tough, cynical, and takes no crap off of anyone.
Yeah, Sam’s definitely in that mold.
it would seem that Those 70′s Guys transcend reality, allowing themselves to be inserted wherever they are “needed”. what a psychadelic, existentialist 70′s trip! they should get their own starring role one day… is Sam really fictional in Quillian’s world? i thought i saw someone who rather resembled her in Quentin’s classroom… hmmm…
I am diggin all the cool that is Sam Valentine.
Cool it is.
thanks again joyce, for letting me be part of this. it really is cool to see a real Sam Valentine story, never thought i would ever do one, and if i did it would have been just for me, stuffed in a drawer some place. i appreciate all you do. you rock!
Awesome. I love how cool Sam comes off.
I’m really digging this, can’t wait for the next update.
Btw, is this set in 50′s or modern times? I mainly ask because of the Noir vibe.
It’s set in modern times, though we don’t make a big point of that. This is a poor, slightly sleazy neighborhood of a big city like Los Angeles. As stories develop, we’ll be exploring the area and meeting some of the other folks. Thanks for commenting.
This is very derivative of the (michelle pfeiffer) cat woman scenes in batman returns. It is actually the exact same joke. Is it meant as an homage?
No, ’cause I have no idea what you mean. Was Michelle Pfeiffer wearing men’s clothes and a painted on mustache?
Basically, you’re saying that if a woman walks home alone and climbs a set of stairs to a lonely apartment, it’s the same thing as a movie made more than 20 years ago. If the scene is derivative of anything, it’s derivative of 1940s film noir detective movies — and that’s intentional; an homage if you will. If the Batman Returns movie used those same sources for inspiration, then I guess we’re in good company.
