Alistair 2 Zook pg13 Apprentice Frog

Alistair 2 Zook pg13 Apprentice Frog

This is a good cartoon, if I do say so myself. Needs to be bigger than it is here, though, so you can see the expressions on the bug’s faces. Various bugs are meant to be nonce characters in the strip. They step onto the stage and say their lines and Zook or the duckling eats them.

My brother, who is middle management at Apple Computer, assures me that middle management does taste like used fax paper. 🙂

this one is very nice. i like the sense of scale in the first frame, wether we know that bugs are small or not. (if i’m making any sense…) i believe a2z has a broad appeal in a popular context. are they real? they seem like they could be.

Are they real? What kind of question is that about a cartoon turtle and frog? 🙂 But yeah, sometimes I feel like this is the thing I’ve done that had the potential to actually reach the newspaper page and end up at the bottom of parakeets’ cages all over the country.

That’s a pinnacle off sorts, knowing that millions of parakeets have the opportunity to crap on your work. Kind of like writing for a television sitcom.

And looking at my art here and realizing that I wasted a lot of time over the years trying to draw like Jack Kirby and Neal Adams when if I had concentrated on drawing like Mort Walker or Johnny Hart, I might have been able to really do something. Not that this is that good, but it has that kind of potential. If I’d done this stuff everyday for forty years, kids might be taking their lunches to school in A2Z lunchboxes.

      Another pinnacle of sorts. 🙂

i’d like to place an order for 5000 lunch boxes please, and 5001 peanut butter sandwiches. oh, i had a funny idea for a single page joke but it can wait. say hi to your bro for me?

I’ve been trying to figure a way for you to meet him but one problem is that this trip, he’s brought his family along and wagging the whole gaggle around is cumbersome. And you and he and I would want to talk cartooning which would bore his wife and kid, I’m sure. 🙂

I assume you’re going to eat that last peanut butter sandwich yourself. With or without mayo?

Be sure to leave $150 dollars in the cookie jar to expedite your order. 🙂
